Start a New Toastmasters Club

The necessary steps to starting a new club are:

  1. Identify possibilities for forming a new club. These can be companies, organizations or geographical areas.
  2. Begin prospecting the organizations and areas. Send letters and/or mailers to the prospects. For some example letters to organizations, see the below downloadable file.
  3. Set up a meeting with an interested prospect.
  4. To the meeting bring materials, information and/or video/DVD. For some examples of what to bring, see the below downloadable file.
  5. Get a commitment for putting on a Demo Meeting
  6. Arrange to put on a Demo Meeting
  7. Contact the appropriate district officers
  8. Arrange for Club Sponsors and Club Mentors
  9. Put on the Demo Meeting
  10. Arrange for an Organizational Meeting to be held within two weeks of the demo meeting
  11. Put on the Organizational Meeting. Get the information needed:
    • Club Name
    • Meeting Place, Frequency, Day, Time
    • Club Officers
    • Charter Members
    • Other items needed for the club bylaws
  12. Complete the charter paperwork and send it to World Headquarters
