There are two recurring “themes” this year that are heard at many levels of the Toastmasters organization – the core values of Toastmasters and the value of teamwork.

The core values of Toastmasters are: Respect for the Individual, Integrity, Service to the Member, and Dedication to Excellence.  Often, a simple acronym is used to refer to them – RISE.  These values are ones that can and should have a positive effect in every aspect of our lives.  

Teamwork is being emphasized and encouraged at every level.  Teamwork is a critical part of every role in every meeting.  Our members should work together to not only achieve their own personal goals, but those of their club too.  The success of each club leads to a successful Area.  Successful Areas make successful Divisions; successful Divisions – a successful District; and finally, successful Districts are critical to the success of the organization overall.   

All of this starts with each member.  If the members strive to adopt the core values of the organization as a whole, then we all have a better chance of reaching our goals. 

That is why in District 22, for the 2012-2013 Toastmasters year, our goal is to have each member “RISE and Shine”.
