District 22 Fall Conference
Fun! Food!
Learning! Laughter!
Awards! Competition!
October 26 & 27
Wichita, Kansas
Historic Broadview Hotel
Power Packed Pow-Wow is the theme for the Fall Conference. It expresses the rich heritage of the Wichita area where native American tribes met long before Europeans came. It was also a main trade center.
On Friday evening, dress up in a fun costume for Friday Fun Night, a prelude for Halloween.
On Saturday, we have exciting events planned for you, including informative educational sessions by speakers who are passionate about their topic. Listen to and learn from the District's best Evaluators and Humorous Speakers at the Humorous Speech Contest and the Evaluation Contest. All of this PLUS seeing friends, networking and having a great time.
Don't delay. Go to our web site at www.toastmasters22.org and select "Conference Info" for your registration form and for contact information to reserve your room at the historic Broadview Hotel, 400 W. Douglass, in Wichita, Kansas. |
Business Meeting...
We Need You or Your Proxy!
By Mike Tuttle, District 22 Governor
Yes, there is something happening at the Fall Conference besides a lot of fun that needs your attention.
On Saturday afternoon, we have the District Council meeting where club Presidents, VP's of Education, Area Governors, Division Governors and other district officers, vote on District business plans.
This is the meeting where we approve the budget, as well as other things on the business side of the District. We really need you in attendance, because we have to vote on an improvement to the District web site.
We must have a quorum for this meeting. Our quorum consists of one half of the total people mentioned above plus one. If you are a club President or VP ED and cannot make the conference but know a member of your club who is coming, you can give them your club proxy. Proxy forms can be printed at:
http://www.toastmasters22.org/opdf_files/d22_proxy_form.pdf You must send separate proxy forms for President and for VP of Education, who will be represented.
Please plan to attend in person if at all possible, to represent your club in the Council meeting. However, if attendance is just not possible, by all means send your proxies - that's TWO proxies-- with one of your club members, Help us conclude the necessary District business with your input and vote at the Fall conference. Otherwise, a special snail mail to each member has to be sent at considerable cost to the District and considerable time extension.
I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the conference; I have a bet with the conference co-chairs that we will be standing room only. They can't wait to have me buy them dinner when we run out of chairs. .

Friday Fun Night:
Costumes, Bunko - & Ghosts?
By Teresa Wallace, ACB, CL, Area A3 Governor, Semi-Pro Toastmasters
October 26th will be a night to remember at the beautiful historic Broadview Hotel in downtown Wichita. Deanna Schwartz and I have planned a fantastic evening of fun, fright and conversation.
First will be the costume contest. Come as your favorite character or personality, charm our judges and fellow Toastmasters.
Participate in Bunko. Bunko is a dice game of chance where you and your partner will attempt to beat the other team at the table in throwing three dice, Whoever is first to throw twenty one of the designated number, such as one's, wins the round. You can Bunko and stop this round of play by throwing three of the designated number. We have prizes for winners of the Bunko.
We have created TOAST Cards. This is a Toastmasters version of Bingo. You will need to mingle with others at the evening event and find someone who has completed the questions on the card and have them sign the card in the designated area. Prizes will be awarded. Winners will need to yell loudly so we can hear when it is time to start a new set of cards.
I also learned today that the basement of the Historic Broadview Hotel is haunted. Perhaps, if we are lucky, we can see a ghost or even have a tour.
I hope to see you, too, on Friday evening, October 26. |
